This paper will discuss the judiciary system of the government. When we speak of three (3) departments or branches of government then we must necessarily refer to the "presidential system" of governance. These three co-equal and co-independent departments are the Executive, the legislative and the judiciary. The executive as its name connotes, has the main duty to faithfully execute the laws and the constitution. The legislature enacts or makes laws and the judiciary interprets them and says if the provisions of said law are not in conflict with the constitution. It likewise can decree if the execution made by the executive is in accordance with the laws and the constitution. On the basis of these basic postulates we will now proceed to determine if the judiciary is the weakest or the strongest among the three branches of government.

This paper discusses a case between Texas and White. The case was Texas v. White in 1869. The state of Texas brought suit in the United States Supreme Court to have certain United States government bonds declared the property of the state, and to prevent the present holders of the bonds from collecting upon them. Texas had owned the bonds before the Civil War. As a means of financing during the war, while Texas was a member of the Confederacy, the bonds were sold. Texas now claimed that the sale was void and the bonds still belonged to the state. (Pollack, 1983) The question was simple: Was Texas a State of the Union or a member of the Confederacy? This was the larger question to be answered before the decision regarding the bonds could be made.

Regions with distinctive climates, geographies, cultures, and histories are simply there and they provide the framework for understanding that we are what has happened to us, and what we can look forward to. Maps of the United States, cartographic icons of nationhood, draw our attention outward, across the continent, away from the centers of population and power and toward the different places we all come from. Thinking ourselves across space, we think ourselves slow in time, imaginatively returning to certain places in an idealized past.

This essay begins by considering the different models of citizenship depicted in Benjamin R. Barber?s Jihad vs. McWorld: How Globalism and Tribalism Are Reshaping The World, Michael Schudson?s The Good Citizen: A History Of American Civic Life, and Fareed Zakaria?s The Future of Freedom: Illiberal Democracy at Home and Abroad. This essay then considers the ways in which technology crosses borders, but does not produce either better information or more diversity. Economic effects on citizenship are also considered, as citizens are either displaced out of politics in favor of the wealthy few, or react simply in fear to economic situations seemingly beyond their control. Finally, this essay considers culture, arguing that structures of power do not change in time to reflect the dynamic nature of the citizen, thus resulting in suspicion and apathy.
